The Better Service Academy uses the five fiscal-year ACR reports from FY2021 through FY2025, pages 1–2. We preserve the difference between allegations at opening, cases, and disciplinary violation counts. Counts can include several violations per case and are not unique-company totals.
TDLR complaint statistics — all five reportsHow the lesson totals were calculated
Unlicensed-contracting disciplinary violations: 39 + 58 + 45 + 37 + 70 = 249. Mechanical-integrity opening allegations: 158 + 264 + 269 + 292 + 218 = 1,201. Misrepresentation opening allegations: 45 + 116 + 128 + 153 + 68 = 510. Total penalties assessed: $1,547,500. These are separate measures and not an allegation-to-discipline conversion rate.

State resources and federal refrigerant certification
The state directory includes all 50 states and Washington, DC. Named licensing resources are available for Texas, Arizona, California, Florida, Oklahoma, Virginia, and North Carolina. Other entries use the official U.S. government directory while credential and course requirements are reviewed. Directory presence does not establish course approval or a requirement to complete a particular number of hours.
Home age and planning tools
The planner uses the facts you enter. House age is calculated as 2026 minus the construction year. It is not equipment age, a diagnosis, a mold-risk score, or a prediction of repair demand. The Texas ZIP lookup uses the supplied NDS listing-age summary: 448 ZIPs, 64,526 observed listings, and 59,895 usable construction years. It describes listed homes in that snapshot, not all housing stock. ZIPs are not neighborhood boundaries. The supplied summary does not establish equipment age, home damage, mold prevalence, or present service demand. Source file: zip_property_counts.csv, supplied October 12, 2026. Property-level lineage and listing snapshot dates should be confirmed before a public data release.
The proposal worksheet uses your own written quotes. It compares entered cash prices and records scope, equipment, and warranty terms without ranking contractors. Worksheet entries are not saved; print a copy before leaving.
Budget tools use user-entered goals and written offers. Default values are examples. The finance tool models a fixed nominal interest rate, equal monthly payments, and up-front fees. It does not model APR, variable rates, deferred interest, financed fees, or balloon payments.
Requests and company pages
Requests are stored in the owner’s private inbox. They are not automatically delivered to contractors. No live contractor directory, guaranteed matching, financing provider, or claimed company profile is represented in this release. Brand previews are illustrative.
